How To Attract Snakes

How To Attract Snakes
Keep your grass really long, don’t trim your bushes, go paddling in the lake. (This is especially good for attracting water moccasins or pigmy rattle snakes). Copperheads, coral and rattle snakes are also indigenous to our area.

Snakes In The Grass
Grass snakes are common but not deadly. They will in many cases look like their evil counter part. For the most part, snakes are more frightening of you than you are of them. However, if you come upon one suddenly they may strike. Try and keep at least a brooms length (5FT) between you and the the snake. Use your broom as a means of distance protection. If they happened to be in the garage or on the pool deck, encourage them to leave out of the nearest door by making distant gentle sweeping motions of the broom, or better yet call animal control via 911.

Snakes Going Swimming
If they’re in the pool or the skimmer basket the motion of the water will usually carry them into the skimmer basket. Once there they’ll curl up in the bottom, and eventually become immobile. Use the handle of the broom or your pool pole to scoop the skimmer basket out and take it outside your pool screen and just leave it on its side. The snake will warm up and disappear over the horizon.

Snakes In The House
Unless this is your daughters boyfriend or an ex spouse, treat this uninvited SNAKE with great respect. Be afraid and leave immediately call animal control via 911.You have no idea what kind of a snake this is and the snake doesn’t see an avenue of escape so may strike out unprovoked.

Scared Of Snakes
For those you who have recently watched Anaconda or are just frightening of snakes. First scream as loud as possible. This may attract a neighbor who isn’t frightened who will deal with the problem on your behalf. Alternatively, this may scare the snake away or better still call animal control via 911.
